Dear [[First Name]]
Welcome to Zenergy's Health, Safety & Environment Newsletter
I seem to be reading of more and more articles on a second tightening in the financial markets and whilst Australia's financial position is the envy of most western countries, recent events with companies like Bluescope and Onesteel signify that we are not completely immune.
The clients that we have been dealing with have still been rolling ahead with expansions and efficiency improving projects but are really having to present a strong case to obtain management commitment to projects. Similarly we continue to see a strong demand for good OH&S and Injury management staff as they are seen to be a cost benefit to a company (whilst I'm sure that many of you reading this could present a strong case otherwise).
This high demand for qualified and experienced OH&S and Environmental professionals is now starting to be driven by Queensland and Western Australian resources and construction companies which will continue to source professionals from other states for well into the future.
I hope that you enjoy this month's newsletter.
Regards,
The Team at Zenergy Recruitment

Worker who put "urgency ahead of safety" was fairly sacked: FWA

Fair Work Australia found the employer's policy expressly "forbade placing urgency ahead of safety", and "being busy" did not justify breaching it. |

Top ten tips for preventing long term claims
By: Gabrielle Lis
Changes to your injury management system can help reduce claim duration.
1. Respond appropriately in the first 5 minutes, the first 24 hours.
The first conversation you have with an injured or ill worker creates a lasting impression. Assess the situation, take appropriate action (be it dialing 000, driving the worker to see a doctor (and paying for the consultation) or assisting them to make an appointment with an appropriate medical professional) and above all be supportive and helpful.
If you let blame and resentment colour this initial interaction, you may well prolong the claim or pave the way for litigation to follow |

The Qantas-owned budget airline Jetstar has been accused of exploiting cabin crew and consequently compromising the safety of workers and passengers, by demanding flight attendants work 20-hour long shifts.
